ALBERT RINDER MEMORIAL WALK
SUNDAY 24th JUNE 2012
WEST VALE WITH DAVID J GLANFIELD
(Walk leader David J Glanfield)
After two successive years of glorious sunshine the Albert Rinder Memorial walk part 3 took place on Sunday 24th June 2012 amidst intermittent showers and sunshine attended by 16 members of the Greater Elland Historical Society. This year’s walk led by Local Historian, Writer and Society member David J Glanfield began at 2 pm from Garwick Terrace just above West Vale at the foot of Long Wall.
The walk though short in distance was packed full of facts, figures, maps and stories from in and around the West Vale area which coupled with Davids faultless delivery and sporadic comments from GEHS stalwarts Neville Readyhough and Brian Hargreaves made for an interesting afternoon much enjoyed by
everyone who made the effort to attend.
The walk ended just after 3-30 pm when David was formerly thanked for his efforts on behalf of the Society by Chairman Graeme Williams.
Once again thank you to everyone who attended. Mr Rinder would have been proud!
