Treasurer from 1988 to 2011
At the 36th Annual General Meeting of the Greater Elland Historical Society on Wednesday 12th October at Elland Working Men’s Club our longest serving committee member and officer Mrs Brenda Holbrook stepped down as Treasurer after a staggering 23 years.
Brenda took over the post on a temporary basis in the summer of 1988 after the untimely death of the then treasurer Mr Jack Leaver, stepping into the breach at very short notice. Brenda delivered her first financial statement at the 14th AGM at Clay House on Tuesday 11th October 1988.
Brenda has been a wonderful ambassador for the Society and a good friend to many over the years and she will be sorely missed at future committee meetings but thankfully she will remain a member so we are not losing her entirely. Brenda’s achievements were recounted by our President Mrs Janice Nichols who, on behalf of the Committee and Members, presented Brenda with a ‘Lladro’ ornament and flowers and a signed card as a token of the Society’s appreciation for her hard work and commitment over the years.
Incoming Treasurer Mr Alan Odams said ‘Brenda would be a hard act to follow’.
Thank you Brenda, from all your friends at the Greater Elland Historical Society.
